Term 3 GNC End term event- Light of the world
On 27th October, 2019 our Good News Clubs; commonly referred to as GNC brought to a close this term's activities by celebrating the talents in the four centers; Kawangware Day, Gatina, Good Hope and Ng'ando. The event's theme was Light of the world and was held at Maranatha Faith assemblies in Kawangware. The event started at 9 am with a brief devotion session after which children from the various centers proceeded to competitively showcase talents in dance, skit, poem and memory verse recitation and singing. Comments from the adjudicators applauded efforts by the trainers in the centers for an exemplary and high standard event. They also critiqued the performances; Actors in the skits were advised to avoid masking (hiding the characters who are speaking), to improve on audibility and stage management. For the song and Poem, the singers and the reciters were advised to improve on audibility and own the piece they were performing. The judges commended their organized nature of presenting the script to them and uniformity in costumes. The dancers also were applauded for good choreography and were advised to work on drama-based choreographies in the near future. They were also applauded for uniformity of costume and selection of morally correct choreography. As they announced the results of the day, the adjudicators appreciated CCP for identifying and nurturing talents and suggested the children to try out spoken word and mimes. They also identified exemplary children from the performances. In the skit, Good Hope put a good show to clinch first place with a total of 80 points. Dance was best done by Good Hope who did a good job in ending Ng'ando's winning streak in the previous events. Good Hope won the song category and also won the poem category and won the poem category. Ng'ando became first in the overall ranking, Good Hope Second followed by Kawangware Day and Finally Gatina. CCP's Director of finance, Jacquelene Ngige applauded the children for putting on a good show and encouraged them to take into consideration the adjudicators' comments for a better performance next time. She also appreciated the teachers for a job well done. She also appreciated the children who were recognized by the adjudicators and asked the winning pieces to be performed during Christmas party. CCP's Managing Director, Stella Mwangi commended everyone for making the day a success and congratulated Good Hope for the good work they did and urged all the centers to keep up the good work.
