CCP Academy Grade 6 and 7 Academic trip
On 15th August, 2019, CCP Academy's Grade 6 & 7 together with 3 teachers went on academic trip to Hell's Gate National Park. They were divided into 4 small groups of 11 pupils each before departure at 7:30am. Upon arrival, the teachers served snacks to the pupils and did a headcount before they were allowed into the park. The park allows for cycling, walking and rock climbing. We were directed by Eric Kipchumba, our tour guide. Hell's gate National park is home to Warthogs, Gazelles, Impalas, Zebras, Giraffes and Buffalos and is also great for bird watching. The students had a wonderful time identifying each of the animals and birds. Our activities for the day included walking in Hell's Gates infamous caves. We also visited the hot springs. After leaving the park, we headed to Lake Naivasha, driving through Olkaria Geothermal Power Station. At the lake we were able to engage in boat riding before lunch. Travelling out of the city is usually a treat for anyone but for children living in urban informal settlements, travelling for leisure it is monumental. CCP seeks to impact children through exposure in different activities.
