2019 College Students meeting
CCP's Education Ministry held the sponsored students college meeting on January 11th, 2019 held at Maranatha Church, Kawangware for eight out of ten sponsored students who sat for last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). The meeting brought the students, their guardians as well as the CCP staff to discuss college expectations in preparation for college education. Pastor Fredrick Mmbwanga, CCP's Children & Youth Coordinator encouraged the team from 1 Timothy 4:12, not to let anyone despise their youth. "Be careful of the many temptations, offers and traps now that you have completed high school. Take responsibility, be wise and faithful", Fred advised. The meeting covered CCP College & University Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as well as the financial allocations for the college students. Jacqueline Ngige, CCP's Director of Finance urged the students to take full responsibility of their lives since they had come of age enough to be recognized by the government both as adults and citizens through national identification cards. She advised them to enroll in some life skills training; 3D program, Computer course and Entrepreneurship training done by CCP as they await to join college. Also they were advised to give back by volunteering with CCP's Spiritual program. The meeting marked the beginning of individual responsibility for the ten and CCP's direct working relationship with them and not their guardians any more. "Take time to choose what you are zealous about to enable you excel in your choice career", said Jacqueline Ngige. The College MoU was discussed in detail to the full understanding of both the students and their parents. It sets terms of engagement between CCP and a sponsored child in relation to the organization's policies, student's discipline in college and expectations on the student's performance at school. In conclusion the college team were admonished to respect their parents/ guardians as well as CCP's rules and regulation even as they consult where need be.
