Western Christian School Mission Trip
Western Christian High School had a very packed week with us! The students jumped all in to help out in the classrooms at the Academy in the mornings. Teachers felt relieved to have the aid even if just for a few hours, as the high school students could tutor kids through their math and English problems to find the correct answers. After traditional Kenyan lunches at CCP Academy, the students would head out with the social workers on home visits. The students all remarked that this was one of the highlights of their trip, for they loved being in the thick of the action of Kawangware. The families they visited were always hospitable, and the students learned much more about Kenyan culture by being open to this experience. Along with putting them to work, the students got to play a bit. They visited Nairobi Chapel the first Sunday and Mamlaka Chapel the following week. They kissed giraffes at the Giraffe Center, bartered with crazy locals at Maasai Market downtown Nairobi, and pet baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. They were a true joy to host!
