2017 ROPEs Parents Meeting
Fourteen Rites of Passage Experiences’ (ROPES) parents attended a meeting on September 30th 2017 at CCP’s Community Center, Kawangware. ROPES is a yearlong program that prepares teenagers alongside their parents especially the eighth grade students to transition from childhood to adulthood and also for life in High Schools. Pastor Fredrick Mmbwanga, begun the meeting with a word of encouragement from Psalm 150:1-6. He affirmed the guardians to rejoice and praise God at all times. “Praise God for what he has given you. Leave everything to God and cast all your worries to Him”, Fredrick said. Faith Wayua a ROPES counsellor reminded the guardians of their financial commitment towards the upcoming Ropers camp in November 20th-24th 2017. She advised the guardians to settle down their contribution as agreed at the beginning of the year to make the camp successful. “The camp will only happen if you parents join hands together with the Ropes Counsellors’’ Faith explained. A few guardians made some payments. Irene Kerubo, a ROPEs Counsellor led the parents present to write an encouragement letter in appreciation and affirmation to their teens. This year CCP hopes to have about 30 teens participate in the ROPES camp. So far, the guardians have covered the six training session required in this program, the teen are expected to cover thirty two session before the culmination in the camp.
