CCP Holds Grade 3 Students Parents Meeting
Twenty one parents attended grade 3 students transitioning meeting on September 27th organized by CCP through the Education Department at CCP Academy. This meeting is held every year to prepare parents and guardians of CCP sponsored children to transfer their children from other schools to CCP Academy which is an upper Primary school when they reach grade four. Pastor Fredrick Mmbwanga CCP‘s Children and Youth Coordinator encouraged the parents to be gentle with people around them so that Christ is perceived in all they do. He based his devotion on Philippian 4:4-8. Benard Okoth CCP’s Education Coordinator invited the parents to feel welcome at CCP Academy. He explained the purpose of the school as helping learners get a big picture of education. The school prepares learners to join high schools and eventually an institution of higher learning. CCP Academy also makes it possible for CCP organization to monitor for quality and balanced education for the sponsored children. It is possible to provide professionally trained teachers, ensure children are learning, the syllabus is being covered and the school is operating within the standards set by the Ministry of Education. Such monitoring and evaluation was impossible when sponsored children were in different schools that are not controlled by CCP. CCP Academy’s Head Teacher, Hilda Mwavishi introduced all the Academy teachers to the parents who were impressed that all the teachers are trained and certified by the Governments of Kenya to teach primary schools. She also explained to the parents the advantages their children would enjoy by joining CCP Academy. Such include: free exercise books, all course textbooks, a wide range of story books and reference books, a well-balanced lunch and profession, friendly passionate teachers. Towards the end Mable Umali CCP’s Medical coordinator and Betty Opati the Sponsorship Coordinator, enlightened the parents on the terms of engagement between them and CCP when their children join CCP Academy [Child only Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)] and school transfer forms. They encouraged the parents to clear with the current schools in a good way because other CCP sponsored children are receiving education in those schools.
