CCP Academy Re-opens
CCP Academy students reported school for start of the third term on August 22, 2017 with the theme ‘Unveiling my Potential’. All students were received by their respective class teachers who checked their holiday assignments and welcomed them back to school. The students were accompanied by their parents or guardians who also participated in a brief discussion with the class teachers. The teacher on duty, Horace Omondi reminded the students that the term would be short, about nine weeks hence the need to redeem time. He encouraged them to work hard owing to the fact that promotion to the next class would be dependent on good performance. “We will not carry everybody to the next class, only those who qualify will be promoted,’’ he said. Fredrick Mmbwanga, Children & Youth Coordinator quoted Isaiah 60:1-3 “Arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is upon you.’’ Rising and shinning in student’s world would mean seeking help from their teachers in the subjects they are struggling in, making good use of their time and praying always. Hilda Mwavishi, CCP Academy’s Head Teacher, inspired the students with the story of Ben Carson who was born and raised in a poor family, contended with racial segregation and also struggled in class. With hard work and his mother’s encouragement, Ben rose to be a renowned author, world’s most famous Neurosurgeon and now the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development appointed by President Donald Trump.
