FTB 2021 Graduation
On 24th July, 2021 For the boys (FTB) held a graduation ceremony for 18 boys and two mentors at Kinyanjui primary school. The graduation came after a four-day camp at Elsamere conservation camp at Naivasha that week. The ceremony started at 12:30 pm with the mentors and mentees having lunch and catching up. Thereafter, a worship session led by Eugene Mukadi, a mentor followed. The sermon of the day was done by FTB's Rick Reed who summarized the teachings done during the camp. He broke down the theme 'Wrestling with God' by recounting the activities done during the camp. Some of the boys gave their testimonies about the camp. They testified of the transformation and the relevance of the lessons learnt in the camp. Samuel Okoth, a mentor who was previously a mentee shared his mentorship and encouraged the mentees to value the relationship they have with their mentors. He encouraged them to preserver so that they can achieve their goals. CCP's educational coordinator, Benard Okoth appreciated the mentors for the good job they do. CCP’s Managing Director Stella Mwangi, congratulated the grandaunts and encouraged them with scripture from 2 Timothy 2: 3-5 'Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor's crown except by competing according to the rules.' She encouraged them to live by the teachings they have received and they live for God and not for anyone else. CCP's Director of Finance was impressed by the commitment by the mentors and encouraged the boys to make their mothers proud by being right with God. FTB founder, Athalie Waugh was glad to have all the FTB graduates from 2018 to 2021. She shared her story of how she struggled with addiction and when she finally saw the light, she never turned back. She encouraged the boys to live for God. The American FTB team was impressed by the respect the boys displayed for their mentors, teachers and even to them as guests. FTB's Andrew commissioned the grandaunts with scripture from Numbers 6:24-26'The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.' The cake cutting was done and the cake was shared among the boys and the mentors. The ceremony ended with prayer from Billy Mwashi.
